About

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi, I’m Charlie and photography has always been a part of my life. Professionally, I have over a decade of experience as a director of photography and camera operator and am currently based out of Austin, Texas and Los Angeles, California.

I’ve lensed narrative, documentary, and commercial projects, many of which have earned best cinematography at various film festivals, American Advertising Awards for cinematography, a CMT Music Award nomination for Breakthrough Video of the Year, and three #1 music videos on CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown.

However, my photographic began long before a career on set. Fresh out of college, I worked as a freelance photojournalist and photo editor, capturing photos for the publications like The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, and The Texas Tribune.

My childhood infatuation for photography turned into a love for visual storytelling while completing dual photojournalism and film production degrees at the University of Texas at Austin.

These days, I am continuing to hone my storytelling chops by pursing a MFA in Cinematography at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, California.

Regardless of form or format; my goal with each frame is the same—lens evocative and compelling images through a story first and collaborative mindset. I aim to create an aesthetic that is not only visually striking, but elevates the narrative by providing subtext and universality to human driven imagery.

Drop me a line and tell me about the story you want to tell.
